Maybe? A Garden Then.

“Paradise is not a mansion, or a palace, but a garden.” ~ Aniket Bhagwat
When celebrated Baroda artist Rekha Rodwittiya asked landscape designer Aniket for a garden, she gave him only one brief: "Whatever you want." He didn't draw plans. He wrote a poem.
A garden then
for people
for birds
For those that burrow and sprint about
Or for nobody
for nothing
Just
So that it can be
Maybe?
A garden then
A place to sit
To meet friends
To die in
Or
To just sit alone
To be lonely
To practice souloquy
To hide
Maybe?
A garden then
Formal
Laid out in a Geometry
To complement the setting
Maybe?
Or just be mad
To be
Whimsical
Mysterious
Mischievous
Maybe?
A garden then
To grow trees
And flowers
and grasses
and Food
Maybe?
Or to just see water
Muddy and clear
Bare ground
And such like
Maybe?
Then a garden
to hark back to memories of childhood
Places of youth
Places seen
A place for companion trees
Maybe?
Or just a strange new place
A new friend
A new place
A new future
Maybe?
Then a garden
To feel the winter sun
To feel the raindrops on the face
To walk brushing the dew
Maybe?
Or a place to see the moon
As it ebbs and grows
And search the galaxy
And pray for a shooting star
Maybe?
A Garden then
